‘Silence is Goldfish’ a book review, and triggers from surprising places



D’you know what the most exciting thing about this book is? It comes out on general release today┬áso everyone can read it!

I’d read ‘Ketchup Clouds’ a few years ago, and kept intending to read ‘My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece’ but other books shoved their way in and Annabel Pitcher was pushed to one side. When I saw this on NetGalley, I was desperate to get a copy.

It certainly hasn’t been a disappointment. Tessie-T, our central protagonist, compares herself to Pluto. She’s not there at the centre, partying like Mercury and Venus, she’s miles away in her own orbit, observing from afar. She used to think it was okay until her dad, Jack, wanted her to try and be more involved with life, make friends, be excited and spontaneous.

This was the real venue: I kid you not!

So, actually it was okay. The amount of stress beforehand was so much worse than the stress during. Neither RT nor LM were there, which made things a million times better. I didn’t have to fight with the competition side of me at all. I only knew three people there, all people who I’ve met on EDUs.

Fucking Eating Disorders

(aaaaand I’m back! Still been reading your blogs guys! So pleased for some of you, and for everyone else, just hang in there, ‘kay? I’m told things will get better.)

So, I’m off to a wedding today. A big, posh one. Hooray.



Except, typical me, I don’t want to go. I’m scared of posh. It’s a three + hour drive away for one. And I won’t know 98% of the people. And I’m tired. And we’ll get back late, so I’ll worry about the cats. And it’s not really warm enough for my liking. And the whole eating situation will be difficult. And everyone gets nervous about big events, right?
